Marks fortieth day of mourning following martyrdom of Imam Hussain ibn Ali
Commemorates ultimate sacrifice made in 61 AH (680 CE) to safeguard core principles of Islam
Public processions taken out featuring symbolic replicas like Alam (flags/banners), Tazia (miniature mausoleums), and Zuljinah (the replica horse of Imam Hussain)
Prayagraj: Devotees participate in a series of religious rituals to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala. During the two-month and eight-day mourning period, the Chehlum procession for the seventy-two martyrs of Karbala was taken out in a somber atmosphere. After Maulana Amirur Rizvi’s speech at Nawab Azam Hussain’s Azakhana, Qazim Abbas, Aijaz Hussain, Ahmed Javed ‘Kazjan’, Zargham Haider, and others led the procession, reciting the Purdard Marsiya, which reached Bachha Ji Dharamshala. After the Zuhr prayer, a series of associations took out processions, reciting Noha. First, Anjuman Hussainia Qadeem Dariyabad, followed by Anjuman Shabbiria Rani Mandi and Anjuman Abbasia Rani Mandi, recited Noha, and reached the Shia Karbala in Chakia via Dr. Chadha Road, Kotwali Nakhas, Kohna, Khuldabad, and Himmatganj. The procession, which started from Azam Hussain, was led by Shuja Haider, Jalal Haider, Kamal Haider, Zaheer Baqar, and Zaheer Jafar, Zaheer Kazim etc. did it.
The second big Duldul procession was taken out with the Noha Khwani of Anjuman Haideriya Rani Mandi by Noha Khwani Hasan Rizvi and his companions. The mourners of Anjuman Mazloomia, Arshad, Irshad Hussain etc. also reached Karbala with a procession raising the voices of mourning and lamentation. The third procession was taken out from Imambara Hashim Raza Abdi under the leadership of the mourner Mirza Kazim Ali of Anjuman Abidya. The members of Anjuman Shabbiriya, Anjuman Abbasiya, Anjuman Mazloomiya, Anjuman Haidriya and Anjuman Abidya, from Kotwali to Nakhas Kohna, mourned with chains equipped with sharp knives and with sharp knives (Qama) on their heads and made themselves bleed in the name of Imam Hussain (AS).
In the procession, along with the flags (Alam) of all the mourning organizations, the coffin of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the coffin of Hazrat Ali Akbar, the bed of Abide Bimaar, Zuljanah were taken out. The Amari of Janabe Zainab and Janabe Umme Kulsoom placed on camels were also included. Throughout the way, devotees offered flowers to the relics and expressed their devotion with moist eyes. The flowers of relics included in the procession that reached Karbala late in the evening were buried in the Ganj-e-Martyrs with tearful eyes. Maulana Razi Haider, Maulana Zargam Haider, Maulana Jawwadul Haider Rizvi, Maulana Shazan Javwadi, Dr. Rizwan Haider Rizvi, Agha Mohammad Qaiser, Gauhar Qazmi, Masood Abdi, Syed Mohammad Askari, Shahid Pradhan, Salman Mustafa, Zamin Hasan, Shajeeh Abbas, former councilor Parvez Akhtar Ansari, former councilor Anees Ahmed, councilor Fasahat Hussain etc. were present.
The historical Chehlum procession was taken out from Dariyabad Imambara Salwat Ali Khan under the patronage of Tahir Malik, Shauzaf Malik, Aun Zaidi, Jaun Zaidi etc., which passed through its traditional routes and reached Baluaghat, Bahadurganj, Loknath Square, Kotwali, Dr. Chadha Road, Ranimandi Imambara Agha Mahmud and again through Atarsuiya route, reached the same place from where the procession was taken out. The huge flag of white Faraira was the center of attraction in the procession, while Taboot Alam Zuljanah etc. were also included in the visit.
Camps for water, sherbet and food were set up at various places on the procession route: From Rani Mandi to Karbala at Chakia, cold water, sherbet, tea, biscuits, naand kebab biryani were distributed to the devotees at about fifty to sixty places by voluntary organizations. In Yadgar Hussaini Inter College, on behalf of Gauhar Kazmi, the devotees were fed by decorating a dastarkhwan with black lentil lentils, cumin rice, salad and chutney. On behalf of Anjuman Guncha-e-Qasimiya Bakshi Bazaar, Nazre Shohadae Karbala and Asiraane Karbala were distributed at Ahmedganj Tahira House, in which hundreds of people participated and tasted the Nazre.
Message of humanity by donating 38 units of blood in the name of Imam Hussain: Under the joint aegis of Inqelabi Blood Donor Association and Naaz Blood Bank, a blood donation camp was organized at Yadgar Hussaini Inter College on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain Alaihissalam. Around 38 units of blood were donated under the patronage of organizer and founder Ibda Shahid Askari, patron Gauhar Kazmi, president Shaheen Kazmi, secretary Captain Mohammad Mehdi, joint secretary Syed Mohammad Askari. Among the blood donors, Captain Mohammad Mehdi Naqvi, who created history by donating blood 145 times in Uttar Pradesh, also donated blood. Abuzar Raza, Mohammad Mehdi, Intezar Hussain, Amir Ali, Syed Hasan Abbas, Faraq Sultan, Tayyab Hussain, Deeba Rizvi, Farhan Ali, Adnan Haider, Maulana Shadab Mehdi, Mohammad Naqvi, Syed Basit Abbas, Hasan Mujtaba, Arman Rizvi, Ahmed Abbas, Yusha Hussain, Ali Raza, Syed Zulfiqar, Syed Shadab Hussain, Syed Ali Haider, Mohammad Irfan Haider, Shabihul Hasan, Laraib Hussain, Syed Shuja Abbas, Syed Wafa Abbas and dozens of other youth voluntarily donated blood. Gifts and certificates were also given to the blood donors as an encouragement by the organization in the camp. In the camp Managing Director of Naz Multispecialty Hospital Amit Yadav, Dr. Vishwadeep, Dr. Mazhar Abbas, Shaheen Kazmi, Yusuf Askari, Farrukh Abbas, Zeeshan Mehndi ‘Aiman’, Hasan Akhtar, Mashu Abbas, Urooj Abbas, Aijaz Naqvi etc. were present while the blood bank staff included Kaushal Yadav, Sachin Sharma, Shubendra Yadav, Satyam Yadav etc.
