Atmosphere resonated with chants of Ya Hussain, testament to Ganga-Jamuni culture

Meja, Prayagraj: On the occasion of Chehlum on Wednesday, a grand Tazia procession was taken out in Lotadh village of the area with devotion and respect in memory of the martyrs of Karbala. A large number of associations and mourning groups from nearby villages were present in the procession. The entire area echoed with the sounds of “Ya Hussain, Ya Hussain” and the devotees offered heartfelt prayers for forgiveness to the martyrs of Karbala through mourning and majlis.
The procession started from Imam Hussain Chowk and reached the ground of Purva village of Jarar via Lotadh Bazaar road. During this, the tazias of Lotadh, Jarar, Uski, Chamanganj and Purva villages joined together and appeared in a huge form. A mournful atmosphere prevailed on the entire route and devotees remembered the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. The youth participating in the procession also displayed traditional lathi-artisan feats, while the procession continued moving ahead amidst the beats of drums. Many people also gave the message of peace, brotherhood and patriotism by holding the tricolor in their hands.
Senior social worker Sanwar Ali said that Chehlum marks the 40th day since the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and marks an opportunity to renew the grief of his martyrdom. On this day, people remember his sacrifice through Quran recitation, majlis, and niyaz (religious gatherings) and help those in need. He said that the message of Karbala teaches us that even in difficult circumstances, we should never bow to injustice and always stand up for the truth.
Famous artisan Mohammad Ustad of Lotadh said that the incident of Karbala reminds us of the greatest sacrifice made for humanity, truth and justice. His father, the late Sajjad Hussain alias Gama, was also involved in the making of Tazias, and now the new generation is carrying forward this tradition. Artisan Mohammad Hussain said that Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions faced the difficult test of hunger and thirst in Karbala, but did not bow down to the oppressors; they fought bravely and set an example of patience and courage by attaining martyrdom.
Through mourning, majlis, and mourning, devotees commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his 72 companions and offered tribute. Following the procession, people indulged in shopping and enjoyed a variety of sweets at the fair. An example of Ganga-Jamuni culture was seen: A beautiful picture of communal harmony was seen in Lotadh village on the occasion of Chehlum. Along with the Muslim community, members of the Hindu community also participated enthusiastically in the mourning ceremony and spread the message of brotherhood. Many prominent figures, including village head representative Mulayam Singh Yadav, social worker Awadhesh Singh, and former village head Gyan Chand Verma, participated in the procession, setting an example of social harmony.
The police force was fully prepared to maintain peace and order during the procession. Meja Police Station in-charge Nitendra Shukla and outpost in-charge Hariom Singh were deployed with the police team. The procession concluded peacefully under the supervision of the administration.
On this occasion, a large number of people including Mahfooz Ali (Mujawar), Noor Alam alias Dangar (Mujawar), Mohammad Ustad, Mohammad Hussain, Sanwar Ali, Meraj Ali, Jabbar Ali, Achhan Ali, Mashuq Ali, Mohammad Shyamulhaq, Mohammad Shebu, social worker Awadhesh Singh, village head Lotadh representative Mulayam Yadav, former head Gyanchand Verma, Mohammad Naushad, Mohammad Sainur, Arshad Ali, Mohammad Waheed, Mohammad Kaleem, Mohammad Torab ‘Alamdar’, Mohammad Muqeem, Mohammad Eklakh, Mohammad Chandbabu, Mohammad Rukhsad, Mohammad Mustafa, Mohammad Wasim, Mohammad Azim, Mohammad Arif etc. were present in the program along with the dignitaries of the area.
