Even after digital payment, the problem persists
Prayagraj: A case has come to light that exposes the claims of Digital India and online payment. Bhavapur resident Arun Kumar Mishra paid his traffic challan four years ago, but the challan remains unpaid in the RTO’s records. Now, four years later, the RTO has sent him a notice again, asking him to pay the challan.
The matter is that on September 23, 2022, Arun’s Activa UP 70 EK 7651 was issued an e-challan number UP470530221003070517 for ₹500. Upon receiving the information, he deposited Rs. 500 online through PayTM (SBI) on December 10, 2022. The bank statement clearly shows that the money was transferred to the government account that same day.
The victim alleges that even after the money was transferred to the government, the RTO officials did not consider it necessary to adjust it in their file. After four years of dormancy, the RTO office sent him another reminder on August 31, 2026.
Arun said, “This is gross negligence on the part of the RTO. Why doesn’t the department verify the online payment when the common man is paying? Despite having bank proof, I’m being labeled a defaulter.” He demanded action against the guilty employees and immediate adjustment of the challan.
