Against Sangeet Som and Kshatriya community
Prayagraj: Allahabad High Court advocate Saurabh Singh Somvanshi has sent a legal notice to Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Manoj Yadav, objecting to an alleged comment made on social media about BJP leader Sangeet Som. The notice alleges that the comment contains objectionable and defamatory remarks about Sangeet Som’s family and lineage.
According to the notice, Manoj Yadav allegedly made comments about Sangeet Som’s kinship with the Mughals in a video lasting approximately 1 minute and 15 seconds, uploaded to social media on September 12, 2026. The notice also provided a link to the Facebook video.
Advocate Saurabh Singh Somvanshi stated in the notice that he and Sangeet Som belong to the same clan, lineage, and family. He claimed that such public comments regarding Sangeet Som’s family and lineage background impact the social standing of his family and the Somvanshi community associated with them. The notice also states that it is inappropriate to make derogatory remarks about a political figure’s family, ancestors, or lineage during political disagreements or criticism of a political figure. The lawyer alleges that the comments made in the video go beyond political criticism and become personal and dynasty-specific remarks.
The legal notice sought removal of the video related to Manoj Yadav from all social media platforms and other public mediums, withdrawal of the alleged controversial comment and publication of a public regret or apology on the same medium. The notice further said that he should also be directed to refrain from making such allegedly derogatory, false, misleading or defamatory comments in future.
Advocate Saurabh Singh Somvanshi, while giving a time limit of one week in the notice, has said that in case the demands are not complied with within the stipulated period, he will be free to take other legal remedies available under the law, including defamation. The notice also said that the purpose of the relevant action is to provide an opportunity to resolve the dispute peacefully.
