All UP Deaf Association sent letter to Soraon Police, demanding imposition of sections of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act
Prayagraj: A case of assault and harassment of a handicapped woman of Bhopatpur village of Soraon police station area has come to light. Regarding the matter, All Uttar Pradesh Deaf Association (AUPAD) has sent a letter to the police station in-charge Soraon demanding strict legal action against the accused. General Secretary of the organization Aman Saxena has said in the letter sent to the police that Ruchi Yadav, a resident of Bhopatpur, is 100 percent hearing impaired. She also has a UDID card issued by the Government of India. It is alleged that she was brutally assaulted, causing serious injuries to the head, face and other parts of the body. She also suffered a lot of bleeding in the incident.
The letter states that such violence against a deaf-and-disabled woman is not only a serious crime but also a violation of her human rights and dignity. The organization has demanded that the police conduct an impartial investigation into the matter, immediately register an FIR, ensure the arrest of the accused, and invoke Section 92 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The organization has also demanded that the victim be provided with security, medical assistance, and legal aid. It has also warned that if timely action is not taken in this matter, the case will be raised with other competent authorities, including the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, the National Human Rights Commission, and the National Commission for Women. The organization states that strict action against such incidents against women with disabilities is essential to maintain a fear-free environment in society and ensure justice for the victims.
