Extensive public awareness campaign in Prayagraj division
Prayagraj: Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager/ Prayagraj, Shri Rajneesh Agarwal and under the leadership of Senior Divisional Safety Officer Shri UC Shukla, a massive public awareness campaign was organised at various level crossings of Prayagraj Division on the occasion of International Level Crossing Awareness Day today on 09 June, 2026. The main objective of this campaign was to promote safe behavior at level crossings and to raise awareness among rail and road users to prevent potential accidents. As part of the campaign, activities such as street plays, pamphlet distribution, and public counseling were organized at various level crossings.
In this sequence, special awareness programs were organized at various locations, including Level Crossing No. 34 between Prayagraj Chheoki-Link Junction and Level Crossing No. 35R at Naini Yard. Railway officials and employees informed pedestrians, drivers, and local citizens about the safety precautions to be taken at level crossings.
During the campaign, people were encouraged not to cross closed level crossings, to obey warning signs and instructions from railway personnel, to exercise adequate caution before and after a train passes, and to avoid taking any risks in a hurry. The adverse consequences of accidents caused by carelessness at level crossings were effectively demonstrated through street plays. The Prayagraj Divisional Administration believes that public participation and continuous awareness can reduce accidents at level crossings. The Divisional Administration has appealed to the public to adhere to rail safety rules and contribute to the safety of the railways as safe and responsible citizens.
Significant increase in unreserved tickets due to digital payment in Prayagraj division
Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager/Prayagraj, Mr. Rajneesh Agrawal, and the direction of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager/Coaching, Mr. Hari Mohan, Prayagraj Division’s continuous efforts to provide passengers with easy, secure, and cashless ticketing have yielded positive results. A significant increase in the use of digital payments in unreserved ticket sales has been recorded in the financial year 2026.
During the financial year 2026-27, till May, there has been an increase of 47.31 percent in the number of passengers purchasing tickets through digital payment through Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) and an increase of 81.97 percent in revenue. During this period, 14.64 lakh passengers purchased tickets through digital medium, generating revenue of Rs 8.78 crore, whereas in the same period of the year 2025, this number was 9.94 lakh passengers and Rs 4.83 crore.
Ticket booking through mobile apps has also seen a significant increase. In April-May 2026, the number of passengers booking tickets through mobile apps increased by 17.97 percent and revenue increased by 35.20 percent. The use of QR code-based payment systems has also seen a steady increase. Revenue from QR and UPI-based transactions at UTS counters has increased by 106.48 percent. The Division has promoted cashless ticketing through initiatives such as the widespread deployment of QR code payment facilities at station premises, awareness among passengers about digital payments, and the promotion of the UTS mobile app. The growing use of digital payment systems is providing convenience to passengers in purchasing tickets and reducing reliance on cash transactions.
