Prayagraj: Social activist Rajnikant Srivastava said that with the onset of the monsoons, an atmosphere of fear prevails among the citizens of Vidyarthi Nagar, Chakdodi, and surrounding areas. Even a light rain floods roads, streets, and homes, completely disrupting people’s lives. Waterlogging disrupts transportation, and the contamination of drains and sewers with drinking water forces people to drink contaminated water, increasing the risk of infectious diseases.
Rajnikant Srivastava said that if the concerned departments regularly clean drains, gutters, and sewer lines and ensure proper drainage, this serious problem that arises every year can be largely alleviated. He said that public representatives should remain active in solving the problems of their areas throughout the year, not just during elections.
He urged the concerned officials and employees to work towards a permanent solution by coordinating instead of blaming each other. He said that the administration should immediately clean the drains, sewer lines, and drainage channels from the Cotton Mill main road to Arel Tiraha via Chakdodi and Kasai Mohalla, so that citizens can get relief from the problem of waterlogging during the rainy season. Rajnikant Srivastava said that there is still time. If the administration takes the necessary steps with seriousness and sensitivity, the residents of the area can get great relief and avoid unnecessary trouble. He urged the administration to take immediate and effective action, giving top priority to public interest.
