Prayagraj: The councilor of ward number 2 of Nagar Panchayat Lalgopalganj met the District Magistrate and submitted a complaint letter accusing another councilor of constructing a permanent structure over the pond. The District Magistrate has assured action after investigating the matter. According to the information, Ward No. 2 councilor of Nagar Panchayat Lalgopalganj, Ashok Kumar Saroj, son of Hari Lal, resident of Ward in a complaint letter to the District Magistrate alleged that in the village of Nindra, plot numbers 4642 and 4646, which are recorded as ponds in revenue records, the current councilor is illegally encroaching on land that is public property. He informed the District Magistrate that, according to strict instructions from the Supreme Court and the Uttar Pradesh government, the nature of pond land cannot be altered, nor can any construction be carried out on it. This illegal occupation of government and public land is blocking the road to Imamganj and the grain market. Previously, tractors and four-wheelers could easily pass through, but now the illegal construction has blocked the road. Attempts were made at the local level to stop this illegal construction, but due to the influence of power and position, the construction work could not be stopped. If the construction is not stopped, the public pond will cease to exist.
