Prayagraj: In compliance with the instructions given by the Governor’s Secretariat, Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Prayagraj, is organizing the Drug Free India Campaign fortnight from July 24 to August 15, 2026. Vice Chancellor Professor Satyakam said that the main objective of the campaign is to make the youth and society aware of the ill effects of drug addiction. The Open University has prepared a detailed 12-point program for the fortnight. All the university’s directors, in-charges, officers, teachers, counselors, employees and research students will participate in this campaign.
Open University’s Public Relations Officer Dr. Prabhat Chandra Mishra said that for the success of the campaign, a Drug De-addiction Campaign Monitoring Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Professor PK Pandey of the Education Faculty. The university administration has expected that the report of the activities organized by the colleagues of each responsibility, along with geo-tagged photos, should be made available to the committee by 2:00 pm on August 14, 2026. The fortnight started on July 24 with a documentary, film screening and a collective pledge for drug de-addiction. The responsibility of this program was handed over to the in-charge of the Health Sciences Faculty.
PRO Dr Mishra informed that on August 1, a lecture on drug de-addiction will be organised by the Education Faculty and on August 2, a webinar will be organised by the Science Faculty. Similarly, several competitions and awareness programmes will be held between July 27 and August 14. In this, speech competition will be organised by the Humanities Faculty, foot march with slogan board by the Social Science Faculty, cleanliness drive and tree plantation by all regional centre coordinators, street play by the Management Studies Faculty, drama competition by the regional centre, awareness meetings in adopted villages and continuous yoga programmes by the Health Science Faculty. The responsibility of organising the slogan writing competition related to drug de-addiction has been given to the Director, Humanities Faculty.
