Drama, dance and music mesmerized
To mark the completion of six years of the National Education Policy 2020, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University organized the Kala Yoga Festival in the Ghalib Auditorium on Thursday, August 6th, as part of the All India Education Conference 2026. The program aimed to enhance our Indian knowledge tradition and raise awareness about yoga among students. The program began with the lighting of a lamp by Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumud Sharma. Dr. Om Prakash Bharti, Head of the Department of Performing Arts, conducted the program. Assistant Professor Dr. Tejaswi H.R. and his team presented soft Hindustani classical music. Their presentation of ten ragas, from Bhairava to Bhairavi, filled the atmosphere with a transcendental energy and spirituality. They sang songs like “Jago Mohan Pyare” and “Itni Shakti Humein De Na Daata.” They were accompanied on the tabla by Jeevan Bangde, and students Vijay Mahesh Gauri, Pranjali Gaikwad, and Riddhi Lekurwale.
Under the guidance of Dr. Vidhu Khare Das, Assistant Professor of Performing Arts Department, a short play on the topic ‘Yoga Pravah’ was presented by the students. The play was written and directed by Utkarsh Upendra Sahastrabuddhe, Research Scholar of Performing Arts Department. Manish Kumar was the narrator of the play. In the play, Janardan Dixit played the role of Adiyogi Shiva, Ankita Kushwaha played the role of Mata Parvati, Kartik Banwari played the role of Rishi Patanjali and Vishal Parihar, Ramzan, Amit Kumar Patel, Ravi Raj played the role of Rishi and disciple, depicting the importance of Yoga through the conversation between Lord Shiva and Parvati.
In the yoga dance presentation, students demonstrated various yoga postures and postures. Kapil Bahadure, Sanghamitra Pant, Sangam Kumari, Saloni Swati Kumari, Shia, Shadanan Duan, and Umakant Jena participated in the dance.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Professor Kumud Sharma stated that Indian arts are a combined artistic expression of color, melody, and sentiments. The festival demonstrated the nature and continuity of the Indian knowledge tradition, as well as the interdisciplinary connections of the National Education Policy. He praised the students’ presentations. A large number of Deans, faculty, researchers, and students were present on the occasion.
