Prayagraj: NSS-SHUATS organised an event on the occasion of world mental health day in collaboration with Department of English & Teacher Education. The program commenced with a word of prayer and devotional song by NSS volunteers. Satyam Kesari, NSS Assistant Coordinator welcomed the Guest Speaker Dr. Ishanya Raj, consultant clinical psychologist with a bouquet and briefed the audience about objectives and motto of NSS. Dr.Ishanya Raj highlighted the mental health issues, its reasons and techniques, strategies to deal with mental health challenges. It was an engaging and interesting session for the audience.

Prof. Ashish Alexander, Dean, CSHSS highlighted the importance of counselling for good mental health. A video depicting how human connection can prevent suicide was also screened. He also spoke about Don Ritchie, the ‘Angel of The Gap’ from Australia, who saved many lives near a suicide cliff by offering tea and engaging in conversation.

Prof. Dipak Kumar Bose, NSS Coordinator advised students to involve as much as in the social activities and suggested to spend minimum time on social media for healthy life and to do works which makes them happy.

The program was organised by NSS Program Officer Dr. Hira Bose and NSS program officer Dr. Jyotsana Jaiswal. Dr. Samala S. Masih, Head, Department of Teacher Education, Dr.Prem Prabha Singh, Dr.Syeda S.Aziz from department of Teacher Education. Dr.Apsara Stanley, Shriyut Srivastava, Ankita Nath, Jenith Denis from department of English and 117 NSS volunteers were actively participated in the program.
