Prayagraj: “Cleanliness is not an act, but a habit to be nurtured.” With this powerful message, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Prayagraj took Swachhta Abhiyan beyond words and into action at God’s Grace Elementary School, Mahewa. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Mukesh P. Masih, Head of KVK Prayagraj, who called on everyone to see cleanliness not as a campaign, but as a shared civic duty.

Taking centre stage, Dr. Nimisha Natarajan, Program Coordinator, set the tone for the day. She spoke about why Swachhta matters — not just for our streets and schools, but for the nation’s health and dignity. Her words were simple yet compelling: “This is not merely a campaign, but a responsibility we must all shoulder for a cleaner tomorrow.” The highlight of the event was the Drawing and Poster Competitions, where students from Classes 1 to 12 brought two themes to life with creativity and conviction: Say No to Plastic – urging society to ditch plastic bags and embrace cloth and jute alternatives.

Waste to Wealth – teaching segregation of dry and wet waste and how composting can turn garbage into gold. Asra Khanam won first, Alima Bano won second, Mishabh Fatima won third and Aqsa Khanam won consolation prize in the art and craft competition. The event saw wholehearted support from Dr. R.P. Singh, Mr. Jitendra Yadav, Mr. Subodh Yadav, and Mr. S.P. Singh of KVK Prayagraj, as well as enthusiastic participation from the teachers, who led by example.

The School Principal Mrs. Rose lauded the initiative, stressing that cleanliness must become a habit, not an occasional drive, if we are to raise a generation of responsible citizens. The program concluded with a moving oath-taking ceremony, where students, teachers, and guests pledged to keep their surroundings clean and inspire others to do the same. In short, this was not just an event. It was a reminder — that Swachhta is everyone’s responsibility, and the time to act is now.
