Prayagraj. On the 14th of last month, a heartbreaking incident occurred in the Puramufti police station area of Prayagraj, where the light of two families was extinguished, and the family members were wailing and mourning, sending shockwaves through the entire area. The bodies of four innocent children—Karan Sonkar, son of Rajesh Sonkar, approximately 19 years old, Prateek Sonkar, son of Pradeep Sonkar, approximately 11 years old, Prince Sonkar, son of Pradeep Sonkar, approximately 9 years old, and Priyanshu Sonkar, son of the late Sandeep Sonkar, approximately 10 years old—were found naked in a 12- to 15-foot-deep pit filled with soil excavated for a ZBF brick kiln, approximately 2 kilometers from the village. The advocates’ association, led by senior advocate and leader Birendra Sonkar, demanded a reinvestigation into the children’s deaths and compensation.
The memorandum stated that the four deceased children had gone out to collect household items. When they did not return after a considerable period, the family members conducted a thorough search, constantly trying to inquire about their whereabouts and with relatives. However, upon finding no trace of them, they filed a missing person report at the Sallapur police post and lodged an FIR at the Puramufti police station in Prayagraj. Later, on January 14, 2026, at around 8:00 am, their clothes and shoes were found lying 50 meters away from the pit. Suspiciously, a search was conducted in the water, and the bodies of the four innocent children were recovered from the pit in the presence of local divers and the police administration. The police have yet to clarify who was behind the incident, what led to the incident, and who the innocent children had a grudge against. Neither are they taking any concrete action. As a result, no clue has yet been found about the killers, leaving the grieving family in deep grief. It cannot be denied that criminals who can murder innocent children without reason could also cause a disastrous event to the victim’s family.
Therefore, in the interest of justice, the entire Sonkar community, through you, makes the following demands of the government: that an SIT team be formed to investigate the above dangerous and heartbreaking incident and that the perpetrators be immediately arrested. That the victim’s family be awarded compensation of at least 50 lakh rupees per child, providing them with some financial assistance. That the victim’s family be provided immediate police protection to ensure their safety. That disciplinary action be taken against the brick kiln operator/owner for exceeding the standard (up to 20 feet) for excavating the land for bricks and that the brick kiln’s operations be immediately suspended for violating standards. Therefore, it is our humble request that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh be informed of the above demands and that they be met as soon as possible, otherwise the entire Sonkar community will be forced to launch a movement. Among the advocates, a large number of advocates including Deep Prakash Sonkar, Lokesh Singh, Jitu Yadav, Pankaj Singh, Nishhu Sonkar, Ravi Sonkar, Satyendra Sonkar, Ayush, Sushil Sonkar etc. were also present in this protest.
