Principal Rev. Dr. V. Eusebius encouraged sound financial habits
Prayagraj: Girls’ High School & College conducted the first session of the Financial Literacy Programme for the academic session 2026–27 for the students of Classes VI to VIII. The session was organised with the objective of fostering financial awareness and equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to make informed and responsible financial decisions.
The ceremony commenced with the Lord’s Prayer, invoking divine blessings, followed by a reading from the Holy Scripture, setting a reverent and purposeful tone for the programme.
A. Sukh introduced the students to the concept of the barter system, explaining how goods and services were exchanged before the advent of money. She also highlighted its limitations, including the absence of a common measure of value and the difficulty of finding individuals with corresponding needs.
Thereafter, S. Mehrotra traced the evolution of money from barter to coins, paper currency, and modern digital payment systems. She also emphasised the importance of saving, budgeting, and responsible spending, enabling students to appreciate the relevance of financial literacy in their everyday lives.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions, posing thoughtful questions, and sharing their insights. Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Rev. Dr. V. Eusebius, encouraged the students to cultivate sound financial habits, make informed financial decisions, and adopt a disciplined approach towards managing resources wisely and planning for the future. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere appreciation to the resource persons and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the session.
