Event promoted Reduce, Reuse, Recycle principles via making crafts from waste materials like old newspapers, plastic bottles, and clothes
Principal Dr. Vinita Eusebius praised the effort, which aligned with NEP 2020 goals
Prayagraj: Girls’ High School & College organized a Bagless Day for the Middle Section on Saturday on the theme “Best Out of Waste.” The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness by encouraging students to practise the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle through creative and hands-on learning.
The activity reflected the school’s deep commitment to sustainability under the visionary leadership of the Principal Rev. Dr. Vinita Eusebius. As a Plastic-Free Zone, the school continues to promote eco-friendly practices, responsible use of resources and environmental conservation.
Students attended informative presentations in the school auditorium, where teachers demonstrated how waste materials such as old newspapers, magazines, cardboard, Tetra packs, bottles, paper cups, ice cream sticks and worn-out clothes could be transformed into useful and decorative items.
Mrs. Saba Naaz guided students in making toy cars, photo frames and flower vases from old magazines and cardboard. Ms. Sana Fahim demonstrated the making of eco-friendly tote bags from old T-shirts and worn-out jeans, encouraging students to reduce the use of plastic bags. Mrs. Mohita Bhatnagar showcased creative crafts from Tetra packs, bottles and disposable cups, converting them into bird feeders, birdhouses, candle holders, flower pots, pen stands and decorative home décor.
The innovative creations prepared by the students were displayed and appreciated. Principal Rev. Dr. Vinita Eusebius lauded the creativity of the students and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the coordinators, Mrs. B. K. Chaddha and Mrs. N. Sinha, along with the teachers, for making the programme a grand success. The Bagless Day activity successfully promoted creativity, practical skills and environmental responsibility while reinforcing the vision of NEP 2020 to provide experiential and skill-based learning.
