Prayagraj: The City Congress Committee paid heartfelt tributes to legendary revolutionary and freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad on the occasion of his 120th birth anniversary.

Congressmen led by City Congress President Fuzail Hashmi visited Azad Park in the morning and paid floral tributes at the statue of the great statesman.

Speaking on the occasion, they said that Chandrashekhar Azad was not only challenged British colonial rule but also struck at the fear and mental slavery that had taken deep root in the minds of Indians. They said that although he possessed neither wealth, nor power, nor an army, he had an extraordinary sense of self-respect that was greater than any empire. Azad’s unwavering determination and indomitable spirit could not be shaken even by the mighty British Empire.

The leaders described him as an eternal symbol of India’s self-respect, unmatched courage, and independent spirit. They added that as long as people continue to dedicate themselves and make sacrifices for the nation, Azad will continue to live in the hearts of the people. Former UP Congress Committee Spokesman Kishore Varshney, Coordinator Harikesh Tripathi, Parvez Siddiqui, Manas Shukla, Afroz Ahmad, Sushmita Yadav, Spokesperson Shahnawaz Qureshi, Pratima Tripathi, Sartaj Mohammad, Ram Manorath Saroj, Ishtiyaq Ahmad, Rajkumar Shukla, Tabrez Ahmad, Rakesh Patel, Ahmadullah, Dr. Anil Gaur, Kamal Ali, Kameshwar Sonkar, Mohd. Javed, Keshav Pasi, Nafees Qureshi, and others were present.
