Prayagraj: After nearly 20 years of marriage, a married woman has accused her husband of marrying another woman without divorce, beating her and throwing her out of the house, and threatening to kill her if she resisted. The victim has filed a written complaint with the Dhoomanganj police, demanding action. The police are investigating the matter. According to Tabassum Siddiqui, a resident of Harwara in Dhoomanganj, she married Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Hatwa, in November 2005.

The couple has three daughters and a son. Tabassum alleges that her husband is in the plotting business and has registered several benami properties in the names of his brother, relatives, and servants. She also alleges that Mohammad Ashraf has previously been associated with the Atiq gang, has several criminal cases filed against him, and has even been jailed for a murder. He is also the cousin of Zainab, the wife of Ashraf, Atiq Ahmed’s brother. He is also accused of selling a dowry car. The victim alleges that her husband remarried a woman from Mumbai without divorcing her. When she protested, she was beaten and thrown out of the house along with her children. Tabassum says the accused even visits her parents’ home and threatens to kill her and her children. Police are investigating the case based on a written complaint.
