Questions raised on security arrangements
Bike parked in front of Alld High Court goes missing in broad daylight
Prayagraj: On Monday afternoon, thieves stole a lawyer’s motorcycle in broad daylight from in front of the Allahabad High Court. Surprisingly, the local police, who boast of maintaining tight security and CCTV cameras to monitor the High Court area, considered a highly sensitive area, were unaware of the incident. After finishing court work, when the lawyer left with his colleagues to return home, they discovered his motorcycle was missing. They searched the surrounding area extensively but were unable to locate it. Manish Dwivedi, a resident of Anandpuram Colony, Kasari Masari Chakia, in the Dhoomanganj police station area, practices at the Allahabad High Court. Advocate Manish Dwivedi arrived at the High Court on his blue motorcycle (number UP 70 EP 0450) around 11:30 am on Monday. He parked his motorcycle in front of Gate No. 5A and went inside. When he left the High Court premises that evening to go home, he noticed his bike was missing. He searched the surrounding area extensively but was unable to locate it. After that he informed the control room and then went to the Cantt police station and gave a written complaint. The incident of bike theft from Gate No. 5 of the High Court, which is considered to be the busiest area and where police usually roam, is shocking. In this regard, the advocates have questioned the inactivity of the police and termed it as gross negligence. On the other hand, Inspector in-charge Cantt Amarnath Rai and High Court Police Chowki in-charge Vinay Shukla have registered a case on the basis of the complaint of advocate Manish Dwivedi and have assured action. The police say that the CCTV cameras installed nearby are being scanned and the culprit will be found soon.
